DMM’s Holding Company Receives ESG Award for Its Commitment to Sustainability

PT Medela Potentia Tbk and its subsidiaries have been honored with the prestigious ESG Award in the ESG Recognizes Commitment category by Investor Daily. The award was presented during the Investor Daily ESG Appreciation Night by Editor-in-Chief of BeritaSatu, Mr. Syukri Rahmatullah, to President Director of PT Medela Potentia Tbk, Mr. Krestijanto Pandji, at The Westin Hotel Jakarta on Monday, November 25, 2024.

The Investor Daily ESG Appreciation Night recognizes companies that have actively integrated environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into their business operations to achieve sustainable and long-term growth. Alongside PT Medela Potentia Tbk, other award recipients included PT Freeport Indonesia, BNI, and Allianz.

The event was attended by key figures such as the Minister of Environment, Mr. Hanif Faisol Nurofiq; Executive Chairman of B Universe, Mr. Enggartiasto Lukita; Acting Deputy for Environmental Control and Pollution at the Ministry of Environment, Mr. Sigit Reliantoro; and Founder of Bumi Global Karbon Foundation (BGKF), Mr. Deni Daruri.

“We are deeply grateful for this award, which motivates us to further strengthen our commitment to sustainability. Through an ESG-based approach, we believe we can make meaningful contributions to the environment, society, and better corporate governance,” said Mr. Krestijanto.

Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq expressed his appreciation for companies implementing sustainability principles in their operations.

“I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to companies that have taken real steps to support sustainability,” Minister Faisol remarked.

He further emphasized that the Ministry of Environment has five key focus areas, including the transition to green energy to achieve net zero emissions. Companies are encouraged to adopt low-carbon technologies and invest in renewable energy.

This aligns with PT Medela Potentia Tbk and its subsidiaries’ commitment to reducing environmental impact through various initiatives such as the 3R approach (Reuse, Reduce, Recycle) using reusable packaging. Energy efficiency efforts include installing energy-saving lighting in company facilities. For waste management, the company provides waste storage containers across all branches and engages in tree planting in operational areas.

PT Deca Metric Medica (DMM) is committed to environmentally friendly operational practices through efficient waste management and water management. DMM responsibly sorts, reduces, and manages waste by partnering with certified waste management providers. For water efficiency, DMM implements regular monitoring systems, optimizes clean water usage, and employs water-saving technologies across its facilities. These measures support DMM’s commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible operations.

Additionally, PT Medela Potentia Tbk, through its subsidiary PT Anugrah Argon Medica (AAM), pioneers the use of electric motorcycles in its operational fleet. This initiative has reduced operational vehicle fuel consumption by 9 percent.

“AAM targets fleet electrification across 14 branches with 100 vehicles. Through this initiative, AAM is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 109.34 tons of CO2e,” Mr. Krestijanto stated.

Demonstrating social responsibility, PT Medela Potentia Tbk runs various community programs under its Argon Peduli initiative, focusing on education and health. These programs include enhancing premier healthcare services, educational outreach to academics, scholarships for employees’ children, and donations and health activities for underserved communities.

In corporate governance, PT Medela Potentia Tbk and its subsidiaries apply Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards to ensure transparency and accountability. Their reports cover areas such as customer health and safety, economic performance, emissions, energy consumption, customer privacy, and contributions to local communities.

This ESG Award marks the second consecutive year PT Medela Potentia Tbk has received recognition, underscoring its sustained commitment to sustainability. The award is organized by Investor Daily, a leading national media outlet and a key reference for Indonesia’s capital market community, business sector, and economy.

Mr. Enggartiasto Lukita highlighted that ESG implementation is a critical factor for foreign investors when deciding to invest in a company. The 2024 ESG Appreciation Night is seen as a valuable platform for companies to build trust with foreign investors.

“Similarly, in terms of investment, many investors consider ESG as a key criterion before entering a country. How well a country prepares on ESG is a significant part of their assessment,” Mr. Enggartiasto explained.
